MedTech Innovator is the industry’s nonprofit global competition and accelerator for medical device, digital health and diagnostic companies. The organization’s mission is to improve the lives of patients by accelerating the growth of companies that are transforming the health care system. This year, the top 50 companies of the MedTech Innovator 2019 competition will participate in the MedTech Innovator Showcase, an on-stage interactive program held on the exhibit hall floor of The MedTech Conference. Four finalists will be selected to compete for the grand prize during the finals competition, and the audience will vote in real time for the MedTech Innovator 2019 grand prize winner. Learn more
MedTech Color (MTC) is envisioned to be the destination for leaders of color in the life-saving medical device industry. We have three objectives: (1) Build and support a community of decision makers (2) Increase the number of people of color who enter and stay in MedTech as founders of companies and practitioners within the industry (3) Add value to the MedTech industry through thought leadership. Our invitation-only breakfast, held in conjunction with the world’s largest medical device conference, targets top leaders from within the MedTech industry including investors, company executives, and major law firm partners. Participants will learn more about MTC and how to execute strategies in meaningful ways to advance the representation of people of color in MedTech.
The AdvaMed Women’s Executive Network (WEN) is an initiative promoting and cultivating female executive leadership across the medical technology industry. WEN aims to integrate women leaders from member companies into AdvaMed’s work and to support the medical technology industry as its companies emphasize elevating their women executives to senior leadership positions. Everyone is welcome to join WEN and participate in our discussions and networking events.
ICPD’s Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program
In conjunction with The MedTech Conference 2019, AdvaMed member companies will sponsor a training session for the Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program for Medical Technology (SMDP MedTech), September 21-25, 2019 in Boston, MA. Companies interested in participating in the program should contact Scott May (firstname.lastname@example.org or +1 (202) 441-7370), Executive Director, International Center for Professional Development. SMDP provides sponsor companies with executive training about diversity and increasing innovation in r&d. Sponsors also gain low-cost access to top ethnically- diverse r&d talent. For more information about SMDP MedTech visit icpdprograms.org. ICPD is a not-for-profit 501c3 Charitable Organization.
The year-long mentoring program benefits post baccalaureate and graduate students from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the MedTech industry, including Hispanic Americans, Pacific Islanders, African Americans and Native Americans. Attending students are interested in careers in the medical technology industry.
Scholars are paired with industry mentors who are executives at medical device, medical technology and consumer healthcare companies. The SMDP MedTech Scholars will be introduced to their mentors during a five-day career training experience in Boston. During the training, Scholars learn about career opportunities in industry and receive career development coaching. They also attend The MedTech Conference.
As part of the program, SMDP MedTech Scholars and their mentors create personalized career development plans, which the students implement over the course of the year following the training session. The mentor-mentee teams communicate and carry out the career plans virtually, aided by ICPD (International Center for Professional Development) staff and the SMDP Mentoring Portal, an Internet-based tool that supports mentor-mentee collaboration and communication.
